Tatiana Kovalenko

Skazka Cakes was founded by Tatiana Kovalenko whose talent, skill, experience, and passion brought this business to life with the goal of offering top of the line, elegantly beautiful and delicious specialty cakes to the local community.  With over 20 years of experience in the industry as a master cake decorator and a passionate baker, Tatiana has had an opportunity to bring meaningful delight to many people’s special occasions and celebrations, as well as deliver to the cravings of those passionate about specialty desserts.

She is a winner of a few cake competitions, with her work featured in American Cake Decorating and (201) The Best Of Bergen magazines. Recent winner of Snake Charmer Showdown episode of Freakshow Cakes, aired on Cooking Channel, and Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Cake Spectacular, aired on Food Network. During her career Tatiana has worked on cakes for Tom Cruise, Whoopi Goldberg, Jack Black, first lady Michelle Obama, and other celebrities.

Tatiana believes that there is no limit to growing her professional career and mastering new techniques.  She continuously enriches her portfolio of knowledge and expertise by learning from the top leaders in the industry, such as: Mike McCarey, Karen Portaleo, Kathleen Lange, Nicholas Lodge.

Accolades

Tatiana has participated in cake shows and competitions throughout her career in the industry.  She was a winner in National Capital Area Cake Show in Fairfax, VA twice.  In 2013, she won first place in 3D sculpted design, with her Tzar’s gown and regalia museum-like showpiece cake.  In 2014, she won first place in sculpted design and best overall in the professional category with her Monster-Wonder-Whale sculpted cake inspired by the famous Russian fairy tale, “The Humpbacked Horse,” by Pyotr Yershov. Her most recent NY Cake Show 2017, featuring a Broadway themed cake decorative competition, brought Tatiana yet another success with the first place with her Beauty and The Beast cake.
